Through Rockie Mountain National Park we stopped to listen to the elk bugle and watch them chase each other around - we have this on movie. On the 26th and 27th we drove the Peak to Peak highway through the 14,000 + foot peaks. We went through the highest pass in North America at 12,000 feet. From Estes Park, we drove south to Breckenridge and are now sitting outside of Buena Vista. The colors are at full peak here and are more than the camera can capture.

On 09/25, we stayed in Steamboat Springs CO where the aspen are donning their fall wardrobe.

Rockies 2008

Left Santa Cruz on 09/21/08 and headed through Nevada to Utah. Flaming Gorge was the highlight of the Utah Trek. This is looking down on the Green River from 1700 feet above. Flaming Gorge is named for the red rocks that line the Green River through this canyon. This one is worth clicking on.

Char and Brian have become quite the accomplished kite boarders. Char is in the foreground and Brian is jumping on the right in the waters off Kahului beach, which is what they do often while living there.

Climbed up to upper falls and ate lots of wild guavas

Climbed up to beautiful waterfalls

pool girls in Maui

Spent 2 days at the Westin in Lahina where the girls had a blast, considering they were residents of Haiku, this was fun for them

Maui trip August 08

Spent 2 weeks with the kids and grandkids who are living in Maui - Julia, Emma, and Olivia have grown and changed . Char and Brian and the girls have been living in Haiku now for over a year, we miss them greatly, especially when we are back home in California.

This is looking down on our little parcel overlooking Lake Isabella - the lake is just off to the left and the right when it is full. When it is full the property becomes a little island. It is just raw land with a bldg site for us to park our motorhome for now. Most likely we will never be able to afford building a structure on this parcel, but that is ok, it is just fun to go there and pretend.

Kernville March 08

We visited in March our property in Kernville overlooking Lake Isabella and spent time with Dave and Alli who happen to live in Kernville. The spring flowers are always exquisite. These are views from our little 12 acres on Lake Isabella.

the kids did easter egg dying and hunting and had a blast.

Sierra Summit Trip Feb 08

Charlene and the kids came to Calif in Feb and we took a snow trip with Laura and Jason to sierra summit above Fresno. We stayed in a condo and skied at the resort. Great low cost family ski resort.

we took our new little 24 ft motorhome back up rock and boulder covered roads, but the pure starry nights were worth the trip. Nothing quite like the stars in the desert with little to no light pollution!

this is the Gold Canyon hike with John and Margie, our in-laws due their wonderful daughter Allison marrying our son David .

mosaic canyon hike in Death Valley

more of Marble Canyon - the colors in the rocks are amazing

Death Valley trip Jan 08

Spent a week hiking around in Death Valley with Dave, Alli and John and Margie, and Jon, Angie and Jaylon in January. The weather was warm and great for hiking and the scenery was outstanding as usual.
